Aashiq is a Master's student in Language Technologies at Carnegie Mellon University. His research centers on responsible data-centric AI, focusing on the challenges and opportunities presented by large language models. Before joining CMU, Aashiq was an Applied Scientist at Amazon for five years, where he worked on hardware and algorithmic efficiency in large-scale search and generative modeling. Aashiq holds an MS from Stanford University and a Bachelor's from IIT Roorkee, where he was the President's Gold Medalist. His publications have appeared in venues such as ACL, NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, AAAI, WWW, PAKDD, and EMBC, and he holds two patents. Aashiq's academic career has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Encore Award for best all-rounder, the Heritage Award for excellence in academics and extracurricular activities, the SN Bose Scholarship, and the K.C. Mahindra and Tata Scholarships.
