I currently serve as chairman of First Virtual Group, a diversified holding company with interests in commercial real estate, agribusiness, global investment management, and philanthropy. In 1993, I founded Siebel Systems, where I served as chairman and chief executive officer. When it merged with Oracle in January 2006, Siebel Systems had already become one of the world’s leading software companies, boasting more than 8,000 employees in 32 countries, over 4,500 corporate customers, and annual revenue in excess of $2 billion. In 1996, I established the Siebel Foundation, which is active in supporting education, health, drug prevention, wildlife habitat preservation, conservation, and support for the homeless. The Siebel Foundation created the Siebel Scholars Foundation, the Meth Project Foundation, and the Energy Free Home Foundation. I also serve on the board of advisors at Stanford University College of Engineering and the University of Illinois College of Engineering, as well as director of the University of Illinois Foundation, the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
